Alessandro Crise, degree in Physics in 1977, is presently Senior Scientist at OGS (Istituto Nazionale di Oceanografia e di Geofisica Sperimentale). He was appointed as Head of OGS ECHO group (Modelling of Marine Systems) between 1994 and 2004 and as Director of the Department of Oceanography in the period 2004-2012. In 1999 he was awarded by a EU Large Scale Facility Grant to visit NTNU (Norway). He is member of many international boards and has been elected member of Executive Committee/Vice-chair of European Marine Board, Vice-Chair of EUROGOOS AISBL and is the Italian delegate of EuroARGO Eric Council. Since 2017 he is member of POGO Executive Board. He is author of numerous scientific papers published on highly rated peer-reviewed journals. He has been and is partner of major European projects leading WP/tasks connected with ocean observing systems, operational oceanography and coupled physical-biogeochemical modelling of Mediterranean Sea. He acts as referee for scientific journals and several institutions including European Commission. From 2008 to 2016 he was Lecturer of the Physics of the Ocean, from 2016 onward he is Lecturer on Ocean dynamics in the frame of the Diploma Course in Earth Science, International Centre for Theoretical Physics, Trieste, Italy. Since 2006 he is Faculty Member of the Doctorate School “Earth Sciences and Fluid Mechanics” (ESFM), University of Trieste-ICTP-OGS consortium. He acted as External Tutor in 3 Ph. D. thesis, 3 ESFM Co-tutor, and was post-doc supervisor of about 10 researcher of world-wide origin. He was member of PhD doctorate evaluation panel for French and Italian Universities. He is member of the organizing committee and lecturer of the Advanced Training School on Sustainable Blue Growth organized by OGS since 2015.
